This year marks the 60th Anniversary of Godzilla and we're getting a new movie, collectibles, and some of the classic movies coming to Blu-ray for the first time. We've also just heard that the original 1954 classic will be playing a limited number of theatrical dates across the US.

According to The Good, The Bad, and Godzilla, Rialto Pictures will screen a "60th Anniversary DCP (Digital Cinema Package) Restoration," with the first screening taking place during SXSW. More screenings are expected to be announced, but here's the initial list:

"Godzilla (a.k.a. Gojira) is the roaring granddaddy of all monster movies. It’s also a remarkably humane and melancholy drama, made in Japan at a time when the country was reeling from nuclear attack and H-bomb testing in the Pacific. Its rampaging radioactive beast, the poignant embodiment of an entire population’s fears, became a beloved international icon of destruction, spawning almost thirty sequels."
