"Do you like scary movies?" If this line from Wes Craven's Scream still sends a shiver down your spine, then perhaps you should prepare to be creeped out by more cryptic phone calls, as MTV has officially put in a series order for their Scream reboot.

MTV made the announcement via Twitter, using blood-splattered emojis to get the message across, in addition to a listed phone number. If you call the number, a man imitating Roger L. Jackson's chilling vocal cords says, "Do you like scary TV? Scream is coming to MTV October 2015."

The first season of the show will consist of 10 episodes and it is believed that the franchise's iconic Ghostface outfit will not be worn by any killers early on, based on this statement made by R.J. Torbert of Fun World (the official rights-holder and manufacturer of the Ghostface costume) in an interview with Ghostface.co.UK:

"To answer your question regarding the SCREAM T.V. SERIES. Please note, that I had been in communication with TWC regarding this and they have informed me, that as of now, and during the initial launch that GHOST FACE® is not involved in the new format. They also indicated that because of this direction, it does not mean, that Ghost Face® will not be involved at a later date. So, there is still a question , to the question. However, as of now, there is no involvement."

The show’s pilot was helmed by Jamie Travis (Faking It) off a script by Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin (Criminal Minds, Revenge). Dimension Films and The Weinstein Co. are backing the project, with Harvey and Bob Weinstein executive producing along with Craven, Marianne Maddalena, Cathy Konrad, and Jill Blotevogel (Harper's Island, Ravenswood). Blotevogel will also be the series' showrunner. Curiously, Kevin Williamson, whose clever scripts gave the Scream films a refreshing self-aware flavor all their own, is not involved on any level with the TV series.

We have the character biographies below (courtesy of THR):

“Willa Fitzgerald (Royal Pains) will star as Emma Duvall, a classic beauty whose looks and popularity hide a natural shyness and intellectual nature. Her new life with the “in crowd” leaves her estranged from her from childhood best friend, Audrey. The character is the lead in MTV’s Scream take and bears a resemblance to Neve Campbell’s tortured high school student Sidney Prescott in the 1996 feature film.

John Karna (The Neighbors) is set as Noah Foster, a creative computer genius with a vast knowledge of pop culture and the tech world. He’s best friends with Audrey.

Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing) plays Audrey Jensen… the daughter of a Lutheran pastor. She’s described as an artsy loner who aspires to be a filmmaker.

Carlson Young (The Kroll Show) will portray Brooke Maddox, the charismatic leader of the popular crew whose personality vacillates between bubbly sweetness and ferocious sex appeal.

Amadeus Serafini will be Kieran Wilcox, the mysterious new kid in town with a dark side and a tough exterior that hint at experience beyond his years.”

Bobby Campo (The Final Destination) will recur as Seth Branson, the hot English teacher at Lakewood High who has an easy charm and is clearly one of the “cool” teachers, who can go with it if a lesson plan gets a little off-track.

Connor Weil (Sharknado) will be a series regular and portray Will Belmont, an all-American high school basketball player who adores his girlfriend, Emma (Fitzgerald).

Joel Gretsch (Witches of East End, V, The 4400) is set as Sheriff Clark Hudson, a good guy and good sheriff who is father to Kieran (Amadeus Serafini).”
