From Halloween II to The Return of Count Yorga, horror fans have enjoyed the new life given to beloved fright films by Shout! Factory's imprint, Scream Factory. Now the company will begin creating original content, beginning with the horror film Fender Bender from writer/directorMark Pavia (1997's The Night Flier).

Press Release: Los Angeles, Calif., October 20, 2015 – Shout! Factory, a multi-platform media company, has acquired all rights to the script FENDER BENDER, a horror-thriller feature written by writer/director Mark Pavia (Stephen King's THE NIGHT FLIER). The film is being developed, financed and executive produced by Shout! Factory for Shout’s horror genre entertainment imprint, Scream Factory. This announcement was made today by Shout! Factory’s founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos.

Pavia will direct FENDER BENDER from a screenplay he has written. He and Nadia Redler (Fear X) will also executive produce the film with Shout! Factory. Shout’s original movie and series production arm has tapped Carl W. Lucas (The Signal, The Rambler) and Joshua Bunting (The Blackout) of EchoWolf Productions to serve as film producers, with Shout’s Jordan Fields and Gus Krieger (The Killing Room, Would You Rather) serving as co-producers. Executive producers forFENDER BENDER are Richard Foos, Bob Emmer, Garson Foos, Mark Pavia, Nadia Redler and Brainstorm Media’s Meyer Shwarzstein.

Shout! Factory, Jordan Fields and Gus Krieger are working closely with Pavia and the team in the production process.FENDER BENDER is currently in the pre-production stage. Principal photography is expected to begin later this year in New Mexico.

“Over the last few years, our Scream Factory imprint has established a real credibility with fans of the horror genre through our celebrated collector’s editions of classic horror films, as well as new film acquisitions. FENDER BENDER is an exciting step for us to expand our original production efforts into feature-length movies, and we’re eager to deliver the kind of quality film fans have come to expect from us,” stated Shout! Factory’s founders in a joint statement.

“Mark, Carl and Josh have a sensibility that is completely in tune with ours. In their talented hands, FENDER BENDER will live under your skin and will be one of those films that make therapists a lot of money,” said Jordan Fields, Shout’s Vice President of Acquisitions.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Shout! Factory and my new friends at EchoWolf Productions on FENDER BENDER.  Before making movies with Shout!, I was already a huge fan of the company, so this is a dream come true for me.  FENDER BENDER is a return to a more classic style of horror film, the type of movie that I grew up watching and that made me want to be a genre filmmaker in the first place, so it's the perfect fit for what Shout! Factory already represents and champions like no other.  I can't wait to share our film with horror fans all around the world.  It's going to be one hell of a scary ride.  Buckle up!" said filmmaker Mark Pavia.

Fender Bender will bring you back to a time when the boxes on the shelf at your local video store beckoned you with masked, knife-wielding maniacs and a twisted sense of morals.  Mark’s vision is more than an homage to the genre. Fender Bender will certainly find its place in the canon of those films.  Shout Factory’s dedication to such classics – old and new – make this collaboration a perfect fit,” said Carl W. Lucas and Joshua Bunting of EchoWolf Productions.

The deal was negotiated by Shout’s Bob Emmer and Bruce Eisen, The Law Offices of Bruce David Eisen for Shout! Factory, Rob Szymanski of Eclipse Law Corporation for Mark Pavia and Nadia Redler, and Reder & Feig LLP for EchoWolf Productions.
