The cast is starting to come together for the upcoming reboot of The Terminator series and we have an update on the main players, including a new character that will be played by J.K. Simmons.

The new movie, titled Terminator: Genesis, will be helmed by Alan Taylor, who most recently directed Thor: The Dark World and previously directed a number of Game of Thrones episodes. Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) have been working together on the screenplay, which is said to "thread together multiple ideas from the previous movies as it relaunches the story of a cyborg from a future where computers gained intelligence and waged war against mankind."

According to THR, J.K. Simmons is in negotiations to play "a weary and alcoholic detective who has followed a bizarre case involving Sarah Connor and robots for more than three decades". Simmons will be joined by Jai Courtney (Live Free and Die Hard) in the role of Kyle Reese, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) playing John Connor, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Earlier this year, Paramount Pictures partnered with Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures for this reboot of The Terminator franchise and a release date has been set for July 1st, 2015.
