**UPDATED: Producers claim announcement was premature on Millennium's part. Continue reading for more details...** As we reported earlier, Texas Chainsaw 3D had a big opening weekend at the box office and a sequel seemed likely. We thought it might take some time before another movie was announced, but a new report reveals that Millennium Films is moving ahead with sequel plans right away.

According to Deadline, Texas Chainsaw 3D producer Carl Mazzocone will be spearheading the project once again with executive producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell. There are no details on what the story will be, but it's likely to follow up on the events from Texas Chainsaw 3D, as the ending left the story wide open for sequel. We also think it's likely that the surviving cast member from Texas Chainsaw 3D will make a return, as they would be crucial to the new story.

The plan is for production to begin later this year in Louisiana, so we could see the next movie in January 2014 if they want to take the Saw approach to this franchise. Of course, we'll keep an eye out for more details, and will keep readers posted on casting and story details.

*Update: Mark Burg went on the record today, saying that the announcement from Millennium Films was premature and that filming late this year is not set in stone. That doesn't mean that a sequel is not moving forward or won't film next year, but there is some obviously behind-the-scenes issues and/or communication issues that need to get sorted.
