Last month, we reported on the zombie 5K adventure race that will be taking place in various cities across the United States (plus Toronto) this year.  Titled Run for Your Lives, the event kicks off on March 3rd in Atlanta. On top of the race and apocalypse party, it has been announced that The Walking Dead's IronE Singleton (T-Dog) will be appearing at the show:

"BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 16, 2012) – Reed Street Productions, creators of the zombie-infested 5K adventure race, Run for Your Lives, announced today that The Walking Dead cast member IronE Singleton will attend the race outside of Atlanta on March 3. Atlanta native Singleton, who plays series regular “T-Dog,” will be on hand to sign autographs and kick off the awards ceremony during the Apocalypse Party. The race will take place at the Durhamtown Plantation Sports Complex in Union Point, Ga. (about an hour and a half outside of Atlanta).

“Part of the reason that we came up with this unique concept was our love for the hit AMC show, The Walking Dead, so we are thrilled to have a cast member from the show help kick off our Atlanta-area race,” said Ryan Hogan, managing member of Reed Street Productions and co-creator of Run For Your Lives. “Having The Centers for Disease Control and ‘T-Dog’ at our race outside of Atlanta is the ultimate combination for us and zombie lovers alike.”

In addition to his role as the compassionate tough guy T-Dog in the 2011 Emmy and AFI Award winning, Golden Globe and WGA nominated TV show The Walking Dead, Singleton is best known to audiences as the menacing kingpin Alton in the 2010 Oscar Award-nominated film The Blind Side.

Run for Your Lives takes participants through a series of obstacles over a 5K course, all while being chased by zombies. Racers, wearing a flag football-like belt with three flags, must make strategic choices to find the quickest route to the finish line with at least one flag to complete the race as a survivor. Survivors and newly-created “zombies” – those who finish without flags – will be able to celebrate following the event at the Apocalypse Party, which will feature live, local entertainment, music, vendors, food, beverages, and of course, zombies. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) will be onsite to educate the public about preparedness in case of emergency or zombie invasion. For tips on how to prepare for a zombie apocalypse in advance of the race, visit the CDC’s website.

In addition to Atlanta, Run For Your Lives will be launching in locations near the following major cities:
