Born from a mock trailer that premiered online in 2010, the Eli Roth-produced Clown is finally lined up to hit US theaters and VOD this summer.

Press Release: "BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (April 14, 2016) – Dimension Films and Anchor Bay Entertainment are proud to present the theatrical and On Demand release of the Eli Roth (Knock Knock, Hostel franchise) produced horror/thriller CLOWN.  Directed by Jon Watts, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Christopher Ford, the film stars Peter Stormare (Fargo), Laura Allen (TV’s “All My Children,” “The 4400”) and Elizabeth Whitmere (The Last Hitman).  “CLOWN is a must see bloodbath,” Shaun Huhn, Horror-Movies.ca.

A unique, frightening and disturbing take on evil clowns, Dimension Films will distribute CLOWN in theaters on June 17, 2016 and simultaneously On Demand through Starz Digital.

CLOWN is a story of a loving father who dons a clown outfit and makeup to perform at his son’s sixth
birthday, only to later discover that the costume – red nose and wig included– will not come off and his
own personality changes in a horrific fashion. To break the curse of the evil outfit, the father must make grim choices with his own family facing danger."

Previously: Deadline reports that Clown has been slated for a June 17th limited theatrical release by The Weinstein Company/Dimension Films.

Set to be rated R, Clown tells the story of a dad who dons a mysterious clown costume to fill in as the entertainer for his son's birthday party. After the cake is eaten and the guests depart, the father realizes that the costume—including the bright red nose—won't come off. Its curse consumes those who wear it. As time goes by, the dad's behavior transforms along with his physical appearance, turning him into a nightmarish clown monster.

Directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car, upcoming Spider-Man reboot) from a screenplay he wrote with Christopher D. Ford, Clown stars Andy Powers, Laura Allen, Peter Stormare, and Elizabeth Whitmere. Clown was previously released in the UK on Blu-ray and DVD on March 2nd, 2015, so horror fans stateside have been waiting for quite some time to lay eyes on the full film.

A new US trailer for Clown should be released soon, so stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates. In the meantime, we have the film's 2015 trailer as well as the mock teaser that caught Eli Roth's eye back in 2010:
