Reader and contributor Gemma St. Clair has returned with a new list of horror movie trivia for this weekend:

1. Shaun of the Dead: Ed tells Shaun’s mom, “We’re coming to get you Barbara!” as a tribute to the original Night of the Living Dead.

2. 1408: One of the first victims of room 1408 is named Grady, which is the same name of the previous caretaker of The Overlook Hotel in The Shining.

3. My Bloody Valentine 3D: Jason and Michael are the first two characters killed. This is a homage to the killers in both the Friday the 13th and Halloween series.

4. Resident Evil: [Spoiler] In the last scene of the film, Alice exits Racoon City Hospital in to what is now the ruined city. A newspaper blows past her with the headline "The Dead Walk", which is in reference to George Romero's Day of the Dead where a newspaper with same headline blows past in the opening credits.

5. Halloween: The original Halloween was filmed on a budget of $320,000. The majority of the budget went into Panavison cameras, with $20,000 going to Donald Pleasence for 5 days of shooting.

6. The Shining (1980)Toy Story's Sid has a carpet in his house that is the same pattern as of that inside the Overlook Hotel.

7. My Name is Bruce: Jeff drives an Oldsmobile similar to the one Ash drove in Evil Dead and Army of Darkness. Also, when Bruce is locked in the trunk he happens upon a copy of Fangoria magazine this was also in the trunk in Army of Darkness.

8. The Mist: Stephen King had witnessed a bad storm and went to a local store to stock up on supplies. While he was standing in the line at the check out he pictured a Pterodactyl flying over head and came up with the basic idea for The Mist.

9. The Orphanage: When this film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival it received a 5 minute standing ovation.

10. I Spit on Your Grave (2010): At the start of the film, Jennifer buys gas which costs $19.78. The original film came out in 1978.
