This spring, Danny Boyle's seminal infection film, 28 Days Later, will come to life in London and another yet-to-be-revealed city via Secret Cinema. The five-hour experience will place attendees inside the world of the Rage Virus with interactive sets, live performances by actors, a special screening of the movie, and more:
Press Release: Prepare for a terrifying experience in apocalyptic survival as Secret Cinema Presents takes on Danny Boyle’s cult horror masterpiece, 28 Days Later.
Starring Cillian Murphy as Jim, who awakes from a coma to a find a deadly virus has all but obliterated humanity and society now overrun by hordes of the “infected”, 28 Days Later created a new breed of zombie (‘the infected’) – and reinvigorated the genre for the next generation of horror fans.
Not only does it mark Secret Cinema’s first step into horror but also its nationwide launch, as London will be joined by another secret city to host the interactive movie experience.
The project has huge support from director Danny Boyle, screenwriter Alex Garland, and producer Andrew Macdonald.
Andrew says: “Secret Cinema never fails to amaze with their experiences, and it’s exciting to see them tackle their first ever horror. London prepare.”
With a resurgence in popularity for post-apocalyptic genres – with the critically acclaimed Fallout 4 topping the video game charts, The Walking Dead becoming one of the biggest TV shows ever, and Mad Max: Fury Road proving a hit at this year’s Academy Awards – Secret Cinema will create the ultimate immersive apocalyptic world, where only the most dedicated of zombie fans will survive.
Fabien Riggall, Founder and Creative Director of Secret Cinema says: “Secret Cinema is excited to step into the world of horror with Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later, a true British horror classic – we look forward to creating a suitably frightening and exhilarating experience. Secret Cinema’s expansion over the last nine years has been remarkable – we’ve now created experiences in New York and Berlin, as well as the many in London. But this will be a turning point for us as we embark upon our very first UK nationwide production.”

ABOUT SECRET CINEMA
Creating large-scale cultural experiences in abandoned spaces, Secret Cinema fuses film, music, theatre and installations. Audiences explore ultra-immersive worlds where fiction and reality blur.
In 2007, Secret Cinema pioneered the form ‘Live Cinema’ by introducing site-specific, immersive cultural experiences. Breaking films – and recently music albums – into their constituent parts and marrying narratives with play-along action, Secret Cinema is a unique participatory social experience. Fuelled by a desire to fill the void left by an over-saturated technological world, it invites audiences to lose themselves in serendipitous, imaginary environments that challenge the way we perceive culture and social interaction. To date, over 420,000 people attended Secret Cinema’s events.
