Take a deep breath and prepare for another trip to the ocean floor... If you enjoyed taking the plunge into shark-infested waters at the cinema this summer with 47 Meters Down, then you'll be pleased to know that a sequel is already in the works.

According to THR, 47 Meters Down director Johannes Roberts (The Strangers 2) will return to direct 48 Meters Down, a follow-up film to the shark thriller that brought in upwards of $53 million at the global box office this past summer.

Fyzz Facility will return to produce the project, with Roberts once again directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with 47 Meters Down co-scribe Ernest Riera. Although the film is a sequel, the plot details revealed so far don't include surviving characters from the first film, which followed two sisters (played by Mandy Moore and Claire Holt) who become stranded on the ocean floor with only rusty cage bars between them and Great White sharks.

Instead of taking place off the shores of Mexico, the sequel will be set in the waters around Brazil, following "a group of girls looking for adventure in the coastal metropolis of Recife. Hoping to get off the well-worn tourist trail, they hear about some hidden underwater ruins only to find that the turquoise waves of their secret Atlantis aren’t completely uninhabited."

Casting info and a production start date have yet to be announced, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are divulged. In the meantime, are you excited for a sequel to 47 Meters Down? Let us know in the comments below!
