After the success of The Last Exorcism, its producers are moving forward with a sequel. Heat Vision reports that Strike Entertainment (Dawn of the Dead remake, The Thing prequel) have hired Damien Chazelle to write the sequel, with plans to begin production later this year.

There is no word on whether or not director Daniel Stamm will return, but we expect the film to follow the same found footage format. For those that missed the first movie, here is a short plot synopsis:

"When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine "exorcism" on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy."
