Over half a decade since the release of Saw 3D, Lionsgate is developing Saw: Legacy, the eighth film in the blood-drenched franchise.

According to The Tracking Board (via Bloody Disgusting), Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger have been hired by Lionsgate to write Saw: Legacy. A writing duo with experience in the horror genre, Stolberg and Goldfinger previously worked on the screenplays for Piranha 3D and Sorority Row.

Saw: Legacy will be executive produced by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the creators of the short film and feature that kicked off the franchise.

No plot details for Saw: Legacy are known at this time, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on more details as they are revealed.
