The big item on Heat Vision's Warner Bros. remake report was that a remake of Lethal Weapon was being considered. What seemed to slip under the radar, however, is that another film they are strongly considering for a remake treatment is 1973's Westworld.
Written and directed by Michael Crichton, Westworld is a dated, but classic sci-fi in which robots begin to break down and kill tourists at a robot-acted theme park.
While I really enjoy this film, it is by no means perfect and I'd would have no problem with Warner Bros. going for a remake. I doubt that any new version would be similar enough that it would prevent enjoying the original, and the basic concept is interesting enough that I think a talented director and screenwriter could do a lot with it.
This would be one of multiple attempts to remake this film. In the past, I recall hearing that Arnold Schwarzenegger was planning to star in a remake and I also just read that Quentin Tarantino was approached a few years back. We'll make sure to post as soon as we here something new about this project.
