Was there any doubt that Twilight would top the box office this weekend? The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 earned an impressive $139.5 million. Even though it didn't surpass New Moon's $142.7 million opening, Breaking Dawn now holds the record for the 5th biggest opening weekend.

Paranormal Activity 3 is close to passing the total domestic gross for the first film, but it doesn't look like it will make it. Paranormal Activity 3 placed 11th this weekend and has earned a total of $102.6 million. It needs to pass $107.9 million to overcome the total of the original Paranormal Activity.

Next week's big openings include The Muppets, Arthur Christmas, and Martin Scorsese's Hugo. Here are the top 10 results for this weekend:

1. Breaking Dawn Part 1 - $139,500,000
