Juan of the Dead has been getting a lot of buzz from its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last September and we now have more information on the film's US release plans.

According to Variety, Focus World (a division of Focus Features) has acquired the rights to premiere Juan of the Dead at US festivals and will release the movie on digital platforms, including cable/satellite providers, iTunes, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and YouTube.

A separate company will be handling US theatrical distribution and most likely the DVD/Blu-ray release. No dates have been set, but we'll have more information on the film's release plans as soon as they become available.

"In the film, Havana is overrun by Zombies while’s Cuba’s Commie leaders insist it’s just a plot by US-backed dissidents to bring down the government. It is up to the hero Juan to rid the island of the undead for money. But as the zombie outbreak begins to spread, he is left with no choice but to fight for his own survival."
