New zombie film production continues, with the announcement that IDW's comic series Zombie vs Robots is being adapted for the big screen by Sony. The film is set to be produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes, which has been responsible for the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm St. remakes, among other horror movies.

There is no word on how closely the script will follow the comic or who is writing/directing, but they have said that the film will focus on a "on a young girl who is the last survivor on earth. She is protected by a group of robots from a pack of zombies that are intelligent and evolved."

I haven't had a chance to check out this series, so it looks like I'll have to pick this one up. Are fans of the comic series excited about this? How do you think the material will translate to the screen?
