Last week, you may have noticed that a number of other movie sites were running a story that Harrison Ford was supposedly in early negotiations to join Ridley Scott's new Blade Runner movie.

Given Harrison Ford's lack of interest in returning to Star Wars and knowing his experience filming Blade Runner, we thought it was unlikely. The good thing about this rumor, though, is that it prompted the Ridley Scott to give an official status update on the project and he talks about his interest in a Prometheus sequel:

"What can you tell me about the Blade Runner project?

RIDLEY SCOTT: We’re still in discussions about whether it should be a prequel or sequel. It’s an interesting conversation. I’m meeting with writers and I’ve also gone back to [original Blade Runner screenwriter] Hampton Fancher and he still speaks the speak. He’s right there. I spoke with him this week. But we don’t even have a script yet.

So, right now, all there is is the concept of doing a Blade Runner film? Nothing more than that?

Right. I just thought Prometheus was so enjoyable — returning to the world of science fiction was so fun — that I wanted to [go back to Blade Runner, too]. I’m also thinking about what the hell I might do for a Prometheus 2.

Do you think there will be one?

[Knocks the wood coffee table and grins]"

We knew that Fox was interested in the possibility of Prometheus sequels, but we didn't know that Ridley Scott is already thinking about directing it. Back when Prometheus was officially an Alien prequel, the idea was to shoot 2 films. It sounds like Prometheus may only be half the story.
