Guillermo Del Toro has been busy working on getting At the Mountains of Madness to the big screen and it looks like things are getting closer to being finalized. According to producer Don Murphy, we could be seeing Del Toro start shooting as early as June. He also confirmed previous reports that Tom Cruise is being considered for the lead role, telling io9 that Cruise is set to star in the film.

James Cameron will also be producing this adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft story, which has been a passion project of Guillermo Del Toro for years now. It is nice to see that we may finally see this film go into full production in the next few months. Some may hesitate on the Tom Cruise casting news, but I think we can have faith in Guillermo Del Toro and James Cameron's casting choices. I also know that they are going to need star power to get this type of movie made the right way. With that being said, it is doubtful casting has been locked in, so we'll know more closer to June.
