It seems that, like Frankenstein, studios are moving forward with a number of projects based on the famous Count Dracula. This time, a report reveals that Sony has acquired a new a Dracula origin pitch.

Jason Keller has an idea for a period origin story of the Dracula mythology, which has just been purchased by Sony Pictures. Most recently Jason Keller has worked on the screenplays for Machine Gun Preacher, Mirror Mirror, and The Tomb. Not much else is known at this time except that Joe Roth and Palak Patel will be producing, and the plan is for this to be a potential franchise.

Universal is working on their own Dracula origin project to be directed by Gary Shore, titled Dracula: Year Zero. Warner Bros. is also considering moving forward with Harker, a re-imagining of Dracula with Jaume Collet-Serra directing. You can read more about those projects below:
