V/H/S had a very successful showing at the Sundance Film Festival this year and was acquired by Magnolia Pictures. They previously announced intentions for a video-on-demand and theatrical release, and we now have details on when you can see the movie for yourself.

Similar to how Magnolia handled The Innkeepers, V/H/S will be first released to video-on-demand on August 31st. Then, just in time for Halloween, the film will start hitting theaters on October 5th. There isn't any information on how many screens will show the film, but we'll have a theater listing closer to October.

V/H/S is a “found footage” anthology film that was directed by Adam Wingard, Ti West, David Bruckner, Glenn McQuaid, Radio Silence, and Joe Swanberg. The film stars Joe Swanberg, Calvin Reeder, Adam Wingard, Sophia Takal, Kate Lyn Sheil, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Chad Villella, and Tyler Gillett.

Synopsis: “When a group of misfits is hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape, they discover more found footage than they bargained for.”
