For those of you in search of a superhero movie with a bit of a different edge to it, Brightburn heads to theaters this weekend, courtesy of Screen Gems. Directed by David Yarovesky, produced by James Gunn, and written by Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn, the film’s story revolves around the Breyer family, who live on a farm in the quiet town of Brightburn, Kansas.

Lori (Elizabeth Banks) and Kyle (David Denman) are doing their best to raise their adopted son Brandon (Jackson A. Dunn) properly. But once he hits his pre-teens, it’s painfully aware to his parents that their kid has some major issues that could potentially put the entire world in danger if they cannot get Brandon and his dark impulses under control.

At the recent press day for Brightburn, Daily Dead spoke with both Denman and Dunn about the film, and David discussed how Brightburn stands out amongst its superhero peers and his experiences coming together with his onscreen family during production. Dunn, who gets to go full tilt as the titular antagonist in Brightburn, talked about how much he loved the idea of playing such an intriguing character, and how the costume helped him get into the mindset of “Brightburn.”

Look for Brightburn everywhere this Thursday!
