It’s almost time to for horror fans to rejoice, as we’re only a few days away from all the fright-filled festivities of Midsommar hitting the big screen everywhere. And before we get swept away by all the revelries, we thought this was the perfect time to hear from writer/director Ari Aster as well as Midsommar co-star Jack Reynor about their experiences collaborating on Aster’s disturbing slice of folk horror.

During our interview with the duo, Aster discussed his approach to the Horga community so that he could make it feel real, lived in, and steeped in tradition, and how he and his production designer Henrik Svensson worked on building the world of Hälsingland together over the course of several years. Reynor talked about how his character, Christian, fits into the world of Midsommar and how he avoided the pratfalls of making his less-than-stellar boyfriend just another one-dimensional antagonist in a horror movie.
