Godzilla Remake Status Update

Early in 2011, Gareth Edwards (Monsters) was hired to direct a new version of Godzilla for Legendary Pictures. We haven't heard anything about the project since late last year, but Edwards assured fans that the movie is still going forward during a recent convention appearance:

"It's going great and I'm genuinely excited about it. We're just working really hard with Legendary, who have been fantastic. Thomas Tull has just been an absolute pleasure and nothing like the experience they warn you about when you go to Hollywood. I can't say much other than I hope that we'll have some proper news soon. So you won't have to wait too long at all."

Originally, David Goyer had been hired to write the script and Max Borenstein had been brought on board to do additional work on it. Not much is known about the new Godzilla film at this point, but if you'd like to hear Gareth Edwards talk about his approach to the material, we have included an interview with him from last year below. Hopefully, Edwards and Legendary Pictures will be ready to talk more about the project at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.
