This Friday, February 18th, Leatherface (played by Mark Burnham) returns in David Blue Garcia’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) which is set to debut exclusively on Netflix’s streaming platform. Written by Chris Thomas Devlin (with a story by Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues), this latest Texas Chainsaw follows a group of well-meaning Gen Z folks from Austin who head out to a desolate town in hopes of transforming it into their own little utopia (basically, gentrification), not realizing that they are about to evoke the wrath of a certain chainsaw-wielding madman who has no patience for their modern-day shenanigans.
During a recent press day for Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022), Daily Dead had the opportunity to speak with Sarah Yarkin who plays Melody in the film, one of the main Gen Zers who is leading the charge in this small-town rejuvenation that ends up becoming one of Leatherface’s primary targets. During our interview, Yarkin discussed her thoughts on joining the Texas Chainsaw franchise as well as her experiences filming the project while being so removed from the rest of the world. Yarkin also chatted about her Shawshank Redemption moment, squaring off against Texas’ most iconic cannibalistic face-wearing serial killer, and more.
