It was previously revealed that current True Blood series creator and showrunner Alan Ball would step down after the 5th season. Provided HBO renews True Blood for a 6th season, which is more than likely, a new showrunner has been selected.

True Blood co-executive producer Mark Hudis will take over for Alan Ball, according to a report from Deadline. Hudis was the co-executive producer of True Blood Season 4 as well as the upcoming fifth season, and previously worked on Nurse Jackie, Miss Guided, and That 70's Show. He has signed a two-year deal with HBO that also includes a development component.

Although he's stepping down as showrunner, Alan Ball remains on-board as executive producer and will consult and advise on the development of future True Blood seasons.
