The Evil Dead Returns to Gaming

It will probably be a while before we see any more Evil Dead movies, but Ghost House Pictures has just announced a partnership with Trigger Apps to produce mobile games based on The Evil Dead series:

"The Evil Dead app, which will be available for $2.99 for the iPhone and $4.99 for the iPad (once Apple approves it in the coming weeks), is an action-heavy 3D shooter game that allows players to take control of Bruce Campbell's character Ash to lead his group of friends to safety while fighting off evil zombies....

The Evil Dead game's more than 30 levels are spread over two chapters. The first follows the film's story line, while the second features a new story and new enemies. The app uses the film score, as well as signature weapons from the movie."

This isn't the first time we've seen games based on The Evil Dead series. In 2000 THQ released the first in a series of games for the PC and multiple consoles. For now, the mobile games are just going to be available for the iPhone/iPad, but I'd expect them to port to android if sales are strong. We'll have more information and screens when it is released by Trigger Apps.
