Cheyenne Jackson Cast in Mockingbird Lane

The pilot episode of The Munsters TV series reboot is currently filming and Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock, Glee) is the latest addition to the cast. At this time he is only set for a guest role, according to Deadline, and will be playing the role of "Scout Master Steve, Eddie’s charming, cheerful new Scout Master, a widower with no children of his own who becomes smitten with Lily."

Give the description and the fact that the series is being described as an edgier take on The Munsters, we wonder if this role is only a guest spot because he doesn't survive the first episode. We'll find out later this year if NBC picks up Mockingbird Lane as a full series. With this week's addition of Portia de Rossi as Lily, the main cast is now locked in and also includes Eddie Izzard (Grandpa), Jerry O’Connell (Herman), Charity Wakefield (Marilyn) and Mason Cook (Eddie).

Mockingbird Lane was created for NBC by Bryan Fuller, with Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects) on-board an executive producer and the director of the pilot episode. Here is an early plot description for the pilot:

**Spoiler Warning** “The pilot episode… will focus on 10-year-old Eddie Munster who is unaware that he’s a werewolf, and that his family is composed of terrifying creatures. The madness begins when a baby bear attacks a scouting trip, only it turns out that this “bear” is actually Eddie transformed into a werewolf. Eddie is unaware of his metamorphosis and it forces the family to move in order to protect the family secret. The coming of age story gets weirder as he fights against his family when he learns of a shocker: they’re a family of flesh-eaters!
