Cineverse Brings Terrifying Urban Legend To Life in Filmmaker Kevin Lewis’ Pig Hill Coming to Digital On 12/9: "Cineverse (Nasdaq: CNVS), the next-generation entertainment studio, announced today that Pig Hill, the latest film from director Kevin Lewis (Willy’s Wonderland), will debut on Digital and Video on Demand on December 9, 2025. A physical release will follow on January 13, 2026, with streaming on SCREAMBOX beginning March 10, 2026. The chilling horror feature draws inspiration from a Pennsylvania urban legend involving the mysterious disappearance of local women.

Pig Hill follows a young author who investigates the disappearance of local women in the community of Meadville, Pennsylvania, quickly becoming entwined in a strange local legend about the creatures that live on Pig Hill. The film is based on the Nancy William novel “Pig.” The film stars Shane West (A Walk To Remember, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), Rainey Qualley (Ocean’s Eight, Mad Men), Shiloh Fernandez (Evil Dead, Red Riding Hood, Poker Face) and R.A. Mihailoff (Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Hatchet II).

“I think some of the best horror comes from ideas that are connected to the real world. When I read Jarrod Burris’ screenplay adapted from the Nancy William's novel ‘Pig,’ and learned about the Pig People of Meadville, Pennsylvania I knew it would make for a frightening, bone chilling film.” says director Kevin Lewis. “It is a poignant story of obsession, love and the terrible consequences of what happens when reality and fantasy blur.”

The official synopsis is as follows: Carrie has been fascinated by the local legend of the pig people of Pig Hill, revolting creatures who breed and cause havoc in the area. As the tenth woman goes missing, Carrie can't stop thinking that there could be more to these stories."

THE THING EXPANDED DOCUMENTARY LAUNCHES FAN PETITION TO HAVE JOHN CARPENTER’S THE THING (1982) RECOGNIZED AS OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS MOVIE ON IMDb & LETTERBOXD: "Snow. Isolation. Paranoia. Gift-giving (sort of). It’s time John  Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) took its rightful place in the Christmas canon.

A new fan-led petition launched by CREATORVC’s The Thing Expanded documentary aims to officially add  The Thing to the “Christmas Movie” categories on the two most influential film platforms in the world —  IMDb and Letterboxd.

The campaign entitled #Thingmas, argues that the film’s Antarctic snow setting, winter themes, and annual  December rewatch tradition qualify it as a holiday movie. Organizers plan to submit the petition to IMDb’s Data  Editors and Letterboxd’s Content Team once it reaches 10,000 signatures. The deadline to sign the petition is  Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025

“If Die Hard can become a Christmas classic, so can The Thing,” says Robin Block, executive producer of  The Thing Expanded. “This petition gives fans a clear outcome: a formal request for IMDb and Letterboxd  to recognize it as part of the holiday canon.”

“Think about it: the weather outside is frightful and the fire is so delightful (via flamethrowers),” adds Ian  Nathan, writer-director of The Thing Expanded. “No one has a place to go (the chopper is a wreck). And it  stars Santa Claus (kinda). Oh, and the hero dies to save mankind. My only question is why has it taken so long  for The Thing to be recognized as a Christmas movie? More seriously, my take on the perfect Christmas movie is  that, above all, it brings people together — and The Thing is something we all share.”

“Given The Thing’s frigid backdrop, one has to wonder if the film might have fared better with a December  release,” concludes Thing Expanded producer and co-writer Josh Weiss. “While we can’t change the past, we  can celebrate the fact that John Carpenter’s sci-fi/horror masterpiece has become a holiday season staple among  fans over the last 43 years. Moreover, it’s packed with enough detail to surprise even the most die-hard fans on  repeat viewings, effectively making The Thing a literal gift that keeps on giving. Having it classified as a bona fide  Christmas movie just feels right!”

Fans can sign the petition at the link HERE

The campaign’s goal is to create a fun, press-worthy moment and spark lively seasonal debate across  film communities."
