REVIVAL Comes to Netflix Starting August 24th

Based on the excellent comic book series of the same name created by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, the first season of Revival is headed to Netflix in August. Whether you've never seen the show or you want to rewatch to help support a potential second season, we have all the details:

One of last year’s best-reviewed new horror shows is getting a major second life.

The complete first season of REVIVAL will begin streaming on Netflix in the United States on August 24, 2026, bringing all 10 episodes of the Certified Fresh supernatural horror series to a much larger audience.

And for horror fans hoping to see the story continue, this Netflix launch could be an important one.

Based on the acclaimed NY Times Best Selling Image Comics series created by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, REVIVAL begins on a seemingly ordinary day in rural Wisconsin when the recently deceased suddenly return to life.

But these aren’t decomposing zombies. The revived remember who they were, look exactly as they did before and return to their families as though nothing has changed. But as fear, paranoia and violence begin spreading through the community, Deputy Dana Cypress finds herself investigating a murder in which everyone, living or dead, is a suspect.

The series stars Melanie Scrofano as Dana Cypress, Romy Weltman as her sister Martha “Em” Cypress, David James Elliott as their father, Sheriff Wayne Cypress, Andy McQueen as scientist Ibrahim Ramin and Steven Ogg as Blaine Abel. 

Phil Brooks, better known to wrestling fans as CM Punk, Gia Sandhu, Katharine King So, Maia Jae, Nathan Dales, Mark Little, Glen Gould, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Graeme Barrett and Conrad Coates are also part of a packed ensemble.

REVIVAL originally aired on SYFY before streaming on Peacock, where it climbed to No. 1 on the Just Watch charts. The series also reached No. 5 overall across streaming titles during its initial run.

Critics embraced the show as well. Season 1 is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 90% score and was nominated for the 2025 Golden Tomato Award for Best Horror Series alongside much larger budgeted shows ALIEN: EARTH, THE LAST OF US, DEXTER: RESURRECTION and STRANGER THINGS.

Despite that response, a second season has not yet been officially announced.

The show performed substantially better in streaming than it did during its original cable run, making the Netflix premiere a genuine opportunity for REVIVAL to find the larger audience it may need to return.

“We have always believed there is a much bigger audience out there for this show,” said co-creator and showrunner Aaron B. Koontz. “The response from the people who found REVIVAL on Peacock was incredible, but Netflix gives it an entirely new life."

Co-creator and showrunner Luke Boyce added "There is a lot more story left to tell, so if horror fans want a second season, August 24 is the moment to watch it, finish it and tell people about it.”

REVIVAL was developed for television by Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce, who serve as co-creators, writers, showrunners and executive producers.

Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron, Samantha Levine, Neil Tabatznik, Daniel March, Melanie Scrofano, Greg Hemmings, Stephen Foster, Samir Rehem and Amanda Row also serve as executive producers alongside Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, who created the comics. 

The series is produced by Blue Ice Pictures and Hemmings Films, with Paper Street Pictures and Luke’s Lens, in association with Bell Media, Dynamic Television and SYFY.

All 10 episodes of REVIVAL Season 1 begin streaming on Netflix in the United States on August 24, 2026.
