Director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel) was set to helm a new version of Frankenstein for Fox earlier this year. According to a new report, he's off the project and another director is in talks to take over.

Variety reveals that Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin) is in final talks to direct Fox's Frankenstein project. Based on a Max Landis script, the film is expected to put a new twist on the Frankenstein story, as opposed to directly following the book. The new report claims that it more of a sci-fi take on the material, although no additional details have been provided.

Fox's Frankenstein is one of multiple Frankenstein-related projects in various stages of development, including Wake the Dead, I, Frankenstein, Frankenstein's Army, and This Dark Endeavor. This deal will likely be finalized this month and we hope to have more details on the plot and casting later this year.
