Despite the fact that Paranormal Activity 4 had the lowest opening weekend of the sequels, it has been confirmed that Paramount is moving forward with Paranormal Activity 5. In case you missed our weekend box office update, Paramount has officially announced that Paranormal Activity 5 will return next October.

Like the previous sequels, don't expect plot or casting details until the middle of next year. It hasn't been revealed whether Paranormal Activity 3 and 4 directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman will return to the sequel, but we'll let readers know as soon as anything is official.

Although Paranormal Activity 4 saw a 43% opening weekend drop from Paranormal Activity 3, the movie only cost $5 million to produce. As long as Paramount  thinks they can make a profit, we don't see them stopping the series any time soon. It's interesting that the most popular sequel was also the one that took place in the past, so we wouldn't be surprised to see the next installment go back in time once again.
