Remember The Kitchen Sink? It's the project at Sony where vampires, humans, and zombies team up to save their town from an alien invasion. We haven't heard anything new on the movie since early 2012, but a new report reveals the actors that will lead the cast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mackenzie Davis (Smashed, pictured left) and Nicholas Braun (Red State, pictured below) are currently negotiating to star in the movie. Originally, Jonah Hill was circling The Kitchen Sink as his first directorial effort, but Robbie Pickering is now helming the project. The Kitchen Sink was on the 2010 Black List, which recognizes top unproduced scripts, and was written by Oren Uziel.
Previously, the film had been pitched as The Breakfast Club meets Zombieland. Matt Tolmach was responsible for acquiring the script and talked about what we can expect when he picked it up at the beginning of 2011:
“It’s more in the spirit of The Breakfast Club than anything, but you get an idea of the title in an early scene where two kids are running from zombies. Those zombies suddenly are attacked by vampires. Just when they are all facing off, there’s a bright light overhead. You realize the aliens have landed and these groups have to band together, suppress the urge to kill each other, and it becomes thematically the enemy of my enemy is my friend. That makes it different than your usual zombie, vampire, or alien movie.”
