After years of hearing about Maggie, the zombie project picked up steam when it was announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger had been cast as the father in a zombie story that follows a family whose daughter has been infected. Abigail Breslin recently came on board to play Maggie and we now know who has been cast as her mother.

According to The Wrap, production recently started in New Orleans and Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck, Event Horizon) will play a mother whose daughter has become infected and will turn into a zombie over a period of six months. Here's a previously released synopsis:

“Maggie is a 16-year old girl from a town in middle America who becomes infected by a zombie. Much the way that Danny Boyle changed the lumbering zombie stereotype by speeding up the undead in 28 Days Later, Maggie changes the lightning quick infection period evident in most zombie films, where victims become zombies in minutes. It will take six months for Maggie to turn, and the film tracks the transformation as she stays with her family.”

This will be the first feature for commercial director Henry Hobson and here's a recently released photo of Hobson with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin:
