Next year, horror fans will get the chance to return to Camp Crystal Lake. Paramount recently announced that they are slightly delaying the release of the next installment of Friday the 13th from March 13th, 2015, to November 13th, 2015, with Scouts vs. Zombies filling in the abandoned March slot. Other details on the film have been relatively quiet, but now it's been revealed that the next installment in the horror franchise could be shot in 3D.
Friday the 13th Franchise reports that the first official 3D possibility news was made this week at CineEurope in Barcelona, Spain, when Paramount Pictures International SVP Edward Ryan discussed the movies slated for a 2015 and 2016 release from Paramount. While going over upcoming releases that will be in 3D, Ryan included Friday The 13th among the movies they're working on.
It's uncertain if this announcement will hold true through the film's release, but it does let us know that Paramount is at least strongly considering shooting in 3D. If they do make the film with that added dimension in mind, it could very well mean the eradication of rumors that the next Friday the 13th will be shot found footage style. On the other side of the rumor scale, the November release date could mean we'll finally see Jason slash his way through the snow.
David Bruckner (V/H/S, The Signal) is directing Friday the 13th for Paramount. There are no casting or plot details at this time, but we’ll update readers as soon as more information becomes available.
