Godzilla 2 Release Date Revealed

Soon after it stomped the worldwide box office earlier this year, Legendary announced a Godzilla sequel, with Gareth Edwards returning to direct. At Comic-Con, Legendary unveiled three monsters to appear alongside Godzilla in the franchise's next installment, and today the release date for the return of the roaring radioactive reptile was officially revealed.

Warner Bros. and Legendary will unleash the sequel to their 2014 monster smash-hit, currently titled Godzilla 2, on June 8th, 2018. So far the only confirmed member of the cast/crew is Gareth Edwards, who will jump back into the director's chair for a second round with Godzilla after completing his directing duties on a 2016 Star Wars spinoff movie.

No plot details have surfaced, but we do know that the monsters Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah (all three creatures are from previous Godzilla movies) will appear in Godzilla 2 for what will likely be a smack-down of citywide proportions.

We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further developments with Godzilla 2.
