Last week, we broke the news that Brittany Curran was cast in the lead female role for Marcus Nispel's Backmask. Some new casting news has been released, which looks to complete the list of main players involved. Backmask starts shooting this month in Rhode Island and deals with six small-town teenagers who unleash a malevolent spirit, when they find an old record and play it backwards.

Brittany Curran and Gage Golightly have already been announced and Bloody Disgusting revealed that Stephen Lang, Kelly Blatz, Brett Dier, Nick Nicotera, Nick Nordella and Michael Ormsby will round out the cast. Kirsten Elms wrote the screenplay and the movie is being produced by Steven Schneider (Insidious, The Lords of Salem). We’ve also been told previously that Shaun Smith (300, Dawn of the Dead remake) will be handling the make-up effects for the film.

“During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it’s revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message….and that the real source of horror isn’t particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.”
