American McGee hopped into the IAmA Reddit section yesterday to answer questions about the upcoming Alice game and a variety of other topics. Here are a few items of interest:

Is a movie adaptation of Alice still a possibility?

"The rights are being held by a film producer in Hollywood - I assume he's still trying to get something made, but we don't speak often so I'm not sure. Nothing to suggest it won't happen some day, but it could take a long time. Don't hold your breath."

It looks like the planned American McGee's Oz game is not going to happen:

"Sadly, the Oz project in its various forms has become too burdened by dead contracts and disinterested parties to ever see the light of day. Though the original Oz books are public domain, so a new variation on the theme could eventually be created. The property is ideal for a larger-scale multiplayer online game, so that might be something to explore in the future."

On why it took so long for an Alice sequel:

"Just had to wait for the right place/time. After I'd left EA some years were spent in Hollywood, then moved to Hong Kong, finally to Shanghai. It wasn't until a capable studio had been built here that EA finally took notice and a sequel made sense."

Of course, you have to be careful that the answers you are reading are from a legitimate source, but I love seeing people from all walks of life answering questions about their profession or personal experiences. Alice: Madness Returns will be released on June 14th and you can check out recently released gameplay footage over here:
