Unfortunately, a release date has not yet been announced for The Walking Dead Season 2 on Blu-ray and DVD. However, some new details on bonus features have been revealed.

You might remember our coverage of The Walking Dead Season 2 special edition head case earlier this year. Designed by McFarlane Toys, this zombie head case will include a 4 Blu-ray discs. A previously released description mentioned the following bonus features:

"This special limited edition Blu-Ray includes all 13 episodes on 4 discs, including bonus feature such as: the making of the barn, an extended zombie gut scene, Shane’s last episode, full Comic Con coverage with panel, comic book vs episode comparison, and more!"

The retail price for special edition is $99.99, while the regular edition Blu-ray is priced at $69.99. The DVD version is listed at $59.98.

Glen Mazzara recently spoke with FEARnet and provided some additional details on bonus features that are will be included:

"There will be five commentaries – for the first episode, "Pretty Much Dead Already", "Nebraska", "Judge, Jury, Executioner", and the finale. There will be many deleted scenes with my commentary as to why they were cut. There will be a special bonus feature of cut material that we sort of turned into a little featurette. I think there's a lot of AMC's behind-the-scenes featurettes. There will also be, in the deleted scenes, I think it's almost twelve minutes of footage that was cut very early on. And I will do a detailed commentary as to why that was cut and why we didn't think it was pushing the story forward."

We've also heard Glen Mazzara mention that many of the special features located on The Walking Dead's official AMC website will be included. The season 1 special edition was announced at last year's Comic-Con, so we'd expect another announcement for this year's Comic-Con, if not earlier. We've heard rumors of a late August release date, but that hasn't been officially confirmed. As soon as there is an official announcement, we'll let readers know.
