Cabin Fever: Patient Zero was announced earlier this year will tell the origin of the flesh-eating virus from the original film. The movie will begin shooting this August in the Dominican Republic and we have news on who has joined the main cast.

Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings), Brando Eaton (Dexter) and Ben Hollingsworth (Divine: The Series) will all star in the film, according to a report from Variety. Kaare Andrews has officially signed on to direct the film and this will be the first of two upcoming Cabin Fever sequels, with the next film being titled Cabin Fever: Outbreak.

In Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, a bachelor party cruise in the Caribbean unexpectedly runs ashore on a medical research island. Somehow a deadly virus is unleashed and, as you can probably guess, things won't turn out well for most of the survivors. The script was written by Jake Wade Wall (The Hitcher remake) with Cabin Fever producer Evan Astrowsky is producing once again, along with his company Hypotenuse Pictures and Indomina Group.
