1986's Chopping Mall is being remade by Laid to Rest director Robert Hall. According to Variety, Robert Hall's Dry County Entertainment has acquired the rights to remake the film, with Hall directing. Kevin Bocarde and Robert Hall will write the screenplay and production is expected to begin in the spring.
The original Chopping Mall was produced by Roger Corman and involved killer robots that attack teens locked in a shopping mall. The remake won't retain the science fiction theme, however, and is opting for supernatural elements. According to Kevin Bocarde: "It will retain the basic concept of young people trapped in a mall; however, the story will have a darker, supernatural spin,"
