There were reports a couple of years back that David Cronenberg was considering remaking his own remake of The Fly. We haven't really heard any news since, and David Cronenberg has been keeping himself busy with a number of other projects. Thankfully, he gave a bit of a status update on the project during a recent interview and it would appear that the film is more of a sequel than a complete remake/reboot.

Shock Till You Drop caught up with David Cronenberg in New York City during the premiere of A Dangerous Method and asked him about the status of the project:

"'The Fly' is not exactly a remake, it's sort of a sequel, kinda. Yeah, that was a thing. I've written a script of that, and I don't know if that's going to really happen, but that has to do with Fox."

With The Fly being both a critical and commercial success, we're kind of surprised to hear that Fox is sitting on this project. Hollywood loves reboots/remakes and we think that most fans would love to see what Cronenberg would do with a reboot/sequel.
