The pieces are starting to fit into place for NBC's Hannibal TV series. Last week, Hugh Dancy was officially cast as FBI agent Will Graham. It is now being reported that David Slade (30 Days of Night, Eclipse) will be directing the pilot episode. This isn't David's first jump into TV, as he recently directed the pilot episode of Awake for NBC.

The series will be based on a Red Dragon-era Hannibal Lecter and is described as an “hourlong contemporary thriller featuring characters from Harris’ best-seller and revolves around FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who are reintroduced as the beginning of their budding relationship.”

Unlike most shows that test with a pilot first, Hannibal has already been given a 13-episode order from NBC. The show was created and is being written by Bryan Fuller, who is also working on The Munsters reboot for the same network. The only big announcement left is finding out who will be filling Anthony Hopkins' shoes in the iconic role. Look out for casting news in the coming weeks.
