Dead Island has already sold millions of copies, so a sequel is pretty much a given at this point. That cinematic trailer turned Dead Island into a title that every gamer knew about and Lionsgate is working on a Dead Island movie. So, when it was revealed that Dead Island developer Techland registered a new trademark for a "Dead" game, it wasn't much of a surprise. What is interesting is the fact that they registered a trademark for "Dead World".

So what is "Dead World"? While some have speculated that it will be used as the title of a sequel, it could also work for a social project or a zombie-based MMO. What we do know is that with the success of Dead Island, Techland and Deep Silver aren't going to stop working on the property at any time soon. Will survivors of the first game hop around the globe for the sequel? We'll just have to wait and see...

It will probably be a couple of years before we see a brand new Dead Island game, but Techland is putting the finishing touches on the Bloodbath Arena DLC pack. Expected to be released later this month, Bloodbath Arena "...features single and multiplayer challenges in four different arenas. It’s a pure fight for survival when wave after wave of deadly zombie attacks, one more gruesome than the next! Characters can also gain additional experience points and items and bring them over to their single or multiplayer campaigns. What’s more, players can show off their skills in zombie fighting via the Bloodbath Arena’s Leaderboards. Finally, Bloodbath Arena includes a new exclusive weapon, the brain wave bomb, to ensure some highly explosive combat experiences."
