After originally setting Scott Derrickson's Beware the Night for a January 2015 release date, Sony will now release the movie in 2014. Those looking forward to this movie will be happy to hear that it will be released six months earlier on July 2nd, 2014. With this being a prime release spot, Sony must be confident in the movie and is likely hoping to replicate the success that The Conjuring saw last July.

Beware the Night stars Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez and Olivia Munn. The script was written by Scott Derrickson and Paul Boardman, who previously worked together on The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, and tells the story of a cop that teams up with a local priest to battle demons:

[Plot details via Deadline] "Bana plays an Irish Catholic cop working a case when he meets a renegade priest. Despite the cop’s beliefs, he’s convinced by the priest that there is a demonic element and together they work to solve the case and combat the paranormal forces working against them. Ramirez plays the priest. Munn plays the cop’s wife, who also has a tie to the case."

The project is a Screen Gems production and it has been said that they'd like this to be the first of multiple films that follow these characters.
