Evil Dead Remake Still Alive?

Although we did see Sam Raimi return to horror for Drag Me to Hell, it seems like there are no plans for a sequel to Army of Darkness. However, every once in a while talk pops up regarding a remake of The Evil Dead at Ghost House Pictures, and it looks like there has been another update. Here is what producer Rob Tapert told Freep.com about a possible remake:

"It's possible; we're looking at a script this month" Tapert said. "What's interesting about 'Evil Dead' is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. ... I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience."

Some may see it as sacrilege, but if Raimi is running it through his Ghost House Pictures label and is overseeing the film as producer, I'm up for it. As long as it isn't a remake focusing on Ash and is just about another encounter in the cabin, I don't think it will take away from the love fans have for the original films and there is always the potential for a great new take on the material. If they are talking about rebooting the Ash character, though, I think I'll pass. Bruce Campbell isn't too old to be replaced and could easily reprise the character.
