On sale this week is Bloodborne: The Death of Sleep, the new graphic novel from writer Ales Kot and artist Piotr Kowalski set in the world of the popular 2015 video game. Taking place in Old Yharnam, the series' hunter must face off against all sorts of monsters and creatures in search of Paleblood, and we have a behind-the-scenes look the gorgeous artwork from Piotr Kowalski.

Here's what Piotr had to say about creating monsters in the world of the Bloodborne universe:

"When I was given the opportunity to draw Bloodborne comic, I had to dive into the Bloodborne universe and I ended up being enchanted by it. The darkness, the horror aspect of it was captivating. It made me want to mirror the overwhelming gloom of that world in my pages.

I gathered tons of visual material references, images taken from the game, and decided to stay true to it but also try to give it my own vibe, my own interpretation. Brad's colours helped to render the pages brilliantly with some awesome colors. It is some of the best illustrations I have ever worked on in comics!"

Series Synopsis: "Discover the terrifying secrets of Old Yharnam in a brand new comic series spinning out of Fromsoftware/Hidetaka Miyazaki's critically-acclaimed Bloodborne videogame. Awakening in an ancient city plagued by a twisted endemic - where horrific beasts stalk the shadows and the streets run slick with the blood of the damned - a nameless Hunter embarks on a dangerous quest in search of Paleblood... his only escape from the endless Night of the Hunt..."
