"Buried in blood, bound by secrets..." This spring, Mad Cave Studios invites readers to delve into historical horror based on true events that occurred on Belle Gunness' Indiana farm between 1901–1908 in their new five-issue comic book series Buried Long, Long Ago.
Written by Anthony Cleveland with artwork by Alex Cormack and letters by Justin Birch, the first issue of Buried Long, Long Ago will be released on April 16th, and we're thrilled to share the first details, cover art, and preview pages from the anticipated first issue!
Synopsis: "Based on true events, from 1901-1908 Belle Gunness lured dozens of lonely men to her Indiana farm and savagely murdered them for their money. Because Belle managed to avoid capture and face trial, much of this story remains untold. Until now. This is a fairy-tale retelling of her brutal crimes from the perspective of her three young children...who soon discover there is something far worse, and far more evil, than their mother on the farm. Something Buried Long, Long Ago."
Mad Cave Studios is thrilled to announce BURIED LONG, LONG AGO, a new five-issue miniseries by acclaimed writer Anthony Cleveland (Show's End, Stargazer) and Bram Stoker Award-nominated artist Alex Cormack (Road of Bones, Sea of Sorrows, The Devil That Wears My Face)!
Featuring a beautiful variant cover by Eisner Award-winning Colleen Doran (Amazing Fantastic Incredible) with letters by Ringo Award-nominated Justin Birch, this chilling historical horror/dark fantasy series blends the atmospheric dread of Pan’s Labyrinth with the historical grit of From Hell, delving into themes of survival, corruption of innocence, and the inescapable weight of secrets.

Anthony Cleveland and Alex Cormack share their insights into making Buried Long, Long Ago:
"If my career was limited to telling only one story, it would absolutely be this one,” said Anthony Cleveland. “I have been wanting to write a story involving the Belle Gunness case since I first saw a museum exhibit about her in middle school. Alex has stuck by and matched my passion for this story for the past five years. There were many setbacks to reach the finish, but with each delay, there was always a shared rally to return and do even better than before. Truly, this book is a high point for both of us. You're going to see surprises you would not expect from us or this type of story."
Alex Cormack added, “Buried Long, Long Ago is not for the weak. It is probably the heaviest book that I have worked on and to ring my own bell, I’ve drawn some horrific things. This story–and for that matter–Anthony’s writing, is fantastic, horrific, beautiful, and smart. The way he writes these characters reminds you of people you may have known and people you hope to never meet. This is a passion project for Anthony, and I am incredibly proud to be a part of it and cannot wait for people to see it. Come and stay forever.”
