Klayton, the multifaceted musician known for his work across movies, TV, and video games (Transformers: The Last Knight, Malignant, Killer Instinct), and bestselling writer and film producer Joshua Viola have teamed up to form Bit Bot Media. The cutting-edge multimedia company will spearhead the creation of original films and video games, along with "a diverse range of licensed comics, music, apparel, and merchandise such as latex masks, toys, and more." Today, they’ve unveiled a teaser video for the company, and we have your exclusive first look, along with more details on their new partnerships.
Bit Bot Media has forged a strategic partnership with Raven Banner Entertainment, a prominent indie Canadian film studio celebrated for its innovative genre films from around the globe. Together, they will collaborate on an array of ancillary offerings and film productions. Raven Banner’s recent productions include Steven Kostanski’s Frankie Freako, Nick Cutter’s The Breach, and the Shudder Original hit V/H/S/94. Some of the company’s releases include André Øvredal’s The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Keith Thomas’ The Vigil, Taiwanese zombie horror The Sadness, Gaspar Noe's Climax, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead’s Spring, RKSS’ cult hit Turbo Kid, and Steven Kostanski’s PG: Psycho Goreman. As part of this partnership, Klayton and Viola will also serve as Executive Producers on Raven Banner’s upcoming productions: Steven Kostanski’s Deathstalker starring Daniel Bernhardt, alongside fellow Executive Producer Slash of Guns N’ Roses, and Deathgasm II: Goremageddon, the highly anticipated sequel to the cult horror comedy hit Deathgasm.
In the gaming sphere, Bit Bot Media is partnering with London-based FreakZone Games to develop original and licensed video game titles for consoles, PC, and mobile platforms. FreakZone Games is renowned for its work on Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures and Spectacular Sparky, and has led the design of Toxic Crusaders for Retroware and developed ports for Spark the Electric Jester 3 for Feperd Games. The first collaborative Bit Bot Media/FreakZone Games project will be Scandroid: Lost Horizon, a retro side scroller based on Klayton’s new Scandroid album, available in 2025. This game, featuring beat ‘em up action and platforming with a cyberpunk pixel aesthetic, will also include original music from Scandroid and be accompanied by a novella and comic co-written by Viola and Shirley Jackson Award-nominated writer Sean Eads.
“Josh and I have known each other for 13 years and have worked together on a number of projects,” says Klayton, “including the Blackstar novel and score for my album Wish Upon a Blackstar, the music video for ‘Unshakeable,’ Josh's debut novel The Bane of Yoto, the Unioverse video game franchise, and so much more. It seemed inevitable that we'd form a company to do what we love on a much deeper level with Bit Bot, with an emphasis on our passion for multimedia.”
“Klayton and I share an ambitious vision for Bit Bot, reflected in our corporate identity,” says Viola. “Take our animated company video, for example. It's not just a visual introduction; it's a glimpse into Bit Bot's future. Could this future include games, comics, toys, or even a film? Perhaps all of the above? Stay tuned. Just remember, at Bit Bot, we're dedicated to building worlds, one Bit at a time.”
Along with their gaming and movie ventures, Bit Bot Media will also launching an original apparel line called Outland, with an emphasis on a science fiction aesthetic.
