Daniel Goldhaber's new vision for Faces of Death was accompanied by a killer soundtrack from Gavin Brivik, and, thanks to Lakeshore Records, the official soundtrack will be released this Friday, May 22nd. Ahead of the release, we're excited to share with Daily Dead readers an exclusive early listen of “Ur Mad," along with details Brivik shared with us on the development of this song:
“'Ur Mad' was a collaboration between songwriter, Cecile Believe, and I for the end credit track. This song was also used as the background song for Barbie’s infamous Train Video in the movie.
The entire concept of the song was to make it sound as if it were playing on a VHS tape, being sped up in Fast Forward. We were inspired by the Basinski’s Disintegration Loops, and our idea was, “what would this song sound like if were being played so fast that the vocals were distorted, and the song was slowly being destroyed while the VHS disintegrates?”
We also were fortunate enough to get sampled from the original Faces of Death movie in our song. It was important that the old movie was constantly haunting our protagonist."
