At one time featuring a "zombienado" in its first season, Syfy's Z Nation series is known for mixing things up in the apocalypse. That delightful habit will continue in season two, as it's been revealed that the new season will include a cameo by A Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin as a zombified version of himself.
Entertainment Weekly reports the news of George R.R. Martin's Z Nation cameo, revealing that the author will play himself as a book-signing zombie in the eighth episode of Z Nation's second season. Martin will be a living dead prisoner of "the Collector, who captures celebrity zombies and keeps George chained to a desk for his own nefarious purposes."
Further adding to the comedic cameo is the fact that Martin will be signing books titled A Promise of Spring, which Game of Thrones fans will recognize as a slight twist of words on A Dream of Spring, the expected title of the seventh (and presumably last) book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
Readers eager for the author's final two books in the series need not worry about the end of the world stopping Martin from finishing his epic saga, as Martin recently said, "I just want to prove to my fans that even in the Zombie Apocalypse, the Song of Ice and Fire books will still come out!"
Z Nation's 15-episode second season kicks off tomorrow night at 10:00pm EST, and if there are no skipped weeks in the show's schedule, we should see the eighth episode and Martin's cameo hit the small screen on October 30th, just in time for Halloween. Below, we have official images of the zombified George R.R. Martin.
